MLB DFS: Best DraftKings and FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, lineup advice for Tuesday, August 16, 2022

Targeting totals is a popular MLB DFS strategy but with no games on the Tuesday evening MLB schedule featuring an over-under of 8.5 runs or more, playing the individual matchups might be more effective. Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino isn’t yet a household name but he’s been one of the hottest players in baseball over the last week. He’s belted five homers and driven in eight runs over the last week and he’ll be a popular option for MLB DFS lineups.

But who else in the MLB DFS player pool is playing well right now and what matchups should you be taking advantage of? It’s a loaded 13-game schedule for Tuesday evening with plenty of options to help you balance your lineups and keep it under the salary cap. Before you make your MLB DFS picks, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won over $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure highlighted Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in his MLB DFS player pool on DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Guerrero hit a solo home run to return 16 Fantasy points on DraftKings and 21.7 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Tuesday, August 16. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, August 16, 2022

For Tuesday, one of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks is Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado who is listed at $5,800 on DraftKings and $3,900 on FanDuel. The seven-time All-Star and nine-time Gold Glove winner is having another sensational season.

He’s slashing .297/.364/.559 with 25 home runs and 73 RBI. He’s hammered left-handed pitching throughout the year, posting a 1.026 OPS against them. He also has a 1.238 OPS with six home runs and 13 RBI over the last 12 games, and you’ll want him in your MLB daily Fantasy lineups while he’s hot.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes stacking Arenado with first baseman Paul Goldschmidt ($6,100 on DraftKings and $4,700 on FanDuel). The veteran was a six-time All-Star in Arizona and has continued to be a solid offensive player in St. Louis over his first three seasons, but he’s kicked it into high gear in 2022.

Goldschmidt made his seventh All-Star team and currently leads the National League in batting average (.328), slugging (.612) and OPS (1.026). He also has 28 home runs and 89 RBI on the season as well as five stolen bases. In August, he’s posted a 1.151 OPS, and he has a .393 career OBP in 28 career plate appearances against Kyle Freeland.
